The Elmora team took the field in the Elimination bracket game against the Maryland team known for their
defense. Yady Mateo knew he had to be perfect. He kept the Maryland offense off the scoring board for 5 innings and faced the minimum 15 batters thanks to a 2-6 putout on a stolen base
attempt by Maryland's McKinney in the 4th inning. Catcher JR Rosado threw a BB to SS Sal Garcia to erase the only hit Maryland would have in the first 5 innings.
EYLL got on the board in the 3rd inning as Josiah Sharpe lead off the inning by working out a walk on a 3-2
count. Sal Garcia III singled to put 2 runners on. JR hit into a fielder's choice to put runners on the corners, but the speedy JR stole second to have two in scoring position for Yady.
Mateo hit a 2 RBI single to the right field line to put EYLL up 2 to 0. Jayden Capidinca followed with a single and Derrick Escobar picked them both up with a 2 RBI double.
In the bottom of the 6th, Maryland's Davis led off with a triple and he was brought home on a fielders choice 4-3
putout. The next two batters were retired by a 1-3 and another 4-3 putout to end the game. Yamil Soto playing 2B had several outstanding defensive plays as he snagged several line drives for
putouts. Yamil finished the game with two putouts and two assists.
