With both teams deadlocked in a scoreless tie after 4 innings, Yadriel Mateo blasted a double to the gap to give EYLL the only
run they would need to win the 1st round game in the Mid-Atlantic Little League Tournament. JR Rosado pitched 4 and 2/3 innings with 8 strikeouts and one hit to keep Pennsylvania in check. Yadriel
pitched the final 2 1/3 innings to earn the win for team. Yadie had a perfect 5th inning striking out all three batters on 9 pitches.
Pennsylvania had their best opportunity to score in the bottom of the 6th when their leadoff batter advanced to 2nd on a
steal, and took third on a fielder's choice. The threat ended when Yadie induced the Pa. batter to ground out to 1st baseman Jayden Capindica for the final out.
Elmora mounted a threat in the 1st inning with 2 outs when JR singled and Yadie hit a double. The threat ended when the
next EYLL batter struck out. The team came back in the third inning with two runners on and two outs, but the rally ended on a pop out to first by Mateo.
In the fourth EYLL mounted another threat with 2 on by base on balls but once again the Pennsylvania defense kept the game
scoreless as LJ Aponte's hit a liner that was snagged by the right fielder. The only run of the game was scored by Sal Garcia III who worked out a base on balls in the top of the 5th inning.
With the win, Elmora takes on the DC team on Monday at 10 AM
