Down 2 to 1, the Elmora Troopers had loaded the bases for 1B Jayden Capindica who stroked a clean single to the
outfield to score Sal Garcia III and JR Rosado to put the Elmora Team up 3 to 2. Sal started the rally with a smash double to the left field line. JR put runners on the corner with a single
and took 2nd on the throw to third. Yadriel Mateo was issued an intentional base on balls to load the base for "Captain Clutch" who came thru with a timely hit. Derek Escobar worked out a four pitch walk to load the base again for EYLL. Justin Labrador delivered a single to the outfield to bring home special pinch runner Santi Alvarez. Yamil Soto delivered the sixth run on a fielder's choice RBI to score Derek.
It was an outstanding pair of defensive plays that got the Troopers fired up. In the 3rd inning, the Oregon batter singled and advanced to 2nd on a passed ball. Catcher JR Rosado threw the runner out on pickoff attempt where Sal applied the tag for the 2nd out of the inning. Yadi picked up his 5th strikeout to shut down Oregon in the bottom of the third. In the bottom of the 4th, Oregon got a leadoff walk to put a runner on. Yadi got the next batter out with his 7th strikeout. The 3rd batter hit a low popup which "Cap" dove to catch for out #2. He alertly threw to 2nd to catch the Oregon baserunner for the 3rd out and kill another rally.
Elmora scored a run in the second inning on 3 consecutive walks to load the bases. A wild pitch
brought home special pinch runner Jaime Tamayo to give Elmora the early 1 to nothing lead. Oregon rallied back in the bottom of the 2nd with 3 singles and 1 double to score 2 runs and take a lead that would hold until the 5th inning.
JR Rosado relived Yadi in the bottom of the 5th with a strikeout for the 3rd out. The bottom of the 6th,
Yadi made an incredible play at first to get the leadoff batter on a 5 to 3 putout. JR Rosado wrapped two strikeouts around a hit batsman to finish the game. It was a solid pitching effort by
the duo as they combined to record 9 strikeouts.
EYLL will now face Hawaii in a Sunday Afternoon game at 2:00 PM. The game will be broadcast on Chanel 7 (ABC).
