2004 Elmora All-Stars

We had a very good team playing for the 2004 District 9 flag.  They were undefeated in district play and their next opponent was the Millburn-Short Hills team who were the perennial district 9 champions.  We had 3 players on the team who "traveled", they had a very important practice on the same night as the Little League District 9 game against Millburn-Short Hills.  They had promised the EYLL Team Manager that they would be at the game.

We were all disappointed that the players did not show up for the district game.  EYLL lost to Millburn-Short Hills.  The employee of the travel team was very good at conveying to the parents that travel supersedes the community based league.

The boys did play in that super-duper, perfect-sucker tournament and nobody remembers who won it or how well they did.  I am sure that the owner of the tournament team cashed their player fee checks and spent them well.

In summary, none of those players earned a college scholarship.  In case anyone is thinking that a travel tournament would supersede a Little League Tournament.
